Kyle Landon McPherson...Is a 2004 graduate of St. Paul's Episcopal High School in Mobile, AL...Attended the University of Mobile (AL), where he hit .302 with three doubles, one triple, one homer and 16 RBI as an infielder during his junior season; also went 1-7 with a 6.07 ERA in 14 games (nine starts)...Signed by Pirates scout Darren Mazeroski.

Began season with Triple-A Indianapolis and made starts on 4/6 vs. Columbus (3.0 IP/3 ER) and 4/12 at Columbus (1.2 IP/7 ER)...Was placed on the 7-day minor league disabled list on 4/13 and was shut down for two weeks due to discomfort near his right elbow...Saw Dr. Patrick DeMeo in Pittsburgh on 4/15 and received an injection meant to reduce the inflammation...Underwent ulnar collateral ligament replacement (Tommy John) surgery on 7/10 (Dr. James Andrews)...Was recalled by Pittsburgh and placed on the 60-day D.L. on 8/27...Was reinstated from the D.L. on 11/1 and was designated for assignment on 11/25.
