Darin Paul Mastroianni (pronounced mass-tro-YAH-nee)...2003 graduate of Fox Lane (NY) High School...attended Southern Indiana University from 2006-07 and hit .409 (97-for-237) with 13 doubles, seven triples and two home runs in 66 career games...stole 64 bases in 67 attempts...in 2007, named First-Team All-American, North Central Region Player of the Year, first year All-North Central Region, North Central Regional Outstanding Player, North Central Regional All-Tournament, Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year and First-Team All-GLVC...spent one year at Winthrop (SC) University appearing in only five games in 2005.

Made Twins Opening Day roster, the first of his career…Placed on 15-day disabled list April 16 with a left ankle stress reaction...transferred to the 60-day disabled list May 22...went on rehab assignment with GCL Twins, Single-A Ft. Myers and Triple-A Rochester July 29-August 5...taken off the disabled list August 15 after missing 106 Twins games and had option transferred to Triple-A Rochester…Hit safely in 10 of final 11 games for the Red Wings and recalled by Minnesota August 30.
