Graduated from Lassen (CA) High School...Attended Sacramento State, where he was the team's main closer in 2007, totaling eight saves in 25 appearances…at that time, his eight rescues were tied for the fourth-most in the Hornets single season record book…was also a punter on the football team...Was selected by Colorado in the 16th round of the 2007 draft.

2013

Spent his second-consecutive season with triple-A Fresno, as he went 7-5 with a 4.72 ERA (65 ER, 124.0 IP) in 30 games (20 starts)...Had never started a game in his minor league career prior to this season (made 20 starts for Fresno)...As a starter, he was 6-4 with a 3.75 ERA (45 ER, 108.0 IP) and 84 strikeouts...in 10 relief appearances, he had an 11.25 ERA (20 ER, 16.0 IP)...His 124.0 innings thrown were a new career-high...his previous career-high was 78.1 innings pitched in 2012 with Fresno...Held opponents to two earned runs or less in seven of his last eight starts...Went 6-1 with a 1.46 ERA (9 ER, 55.1 IP) and 39 strikeouts in nine starts for Navegantes del Magallanes in the Venezuelan Winter League.

Posted career-highs in nearly every statistical category, in 2012, including wins (eight), games (47), innings pitched (78.1) and strikeouts (69)...Overall, went 8-4 with a 2.99 ERA (26 ER, 78.1 IP) in 47 relief appearances for the Grizzlies...His eight victories matched Dusty Bergman (2005), Robbie Crabtree (2001) and Steve Connelly (2000) for the most wins by a Grizzlies reliever in a season in franchise history...Held opponents to a .220 batting avg. against, the fourth-lowest figure among Pacific Coast League relievers…also ranked third in the league for allowing 10.34 baserunners per 9.0 innings.

2011 Had his best season yet as he split time between Class A Advanced San Jose and double-A Richmond, going combined 3-7 with 2.14 ERA (17er, 71.1ip), 9 saves and 71 strikeouts to only 27 walks ... Appeared in 38 games for San Jose, going 3-3 with 1.46 ERA (8er, 49.1ip) and 8 saves before being promoted to double-A ... Produced 0-4 record with 3.68 ERA (9er, 22.0ip), 1 save and 19 punchouts in 18 games for Richmond ... Allowed just 3 home runs all season (all 3 allowed while pitching for San Jose). 2010 Climbed from Class A Augusta to double-A Richmond in his 3rd season with Giants organization... combined to go 6-6 with 4.41 ERA (33er, 67.1ip) between both clubs ... Started season with Class A Augusta, going 2-4 with 3.90 ERA (14er, 32.1ip) with 1 save in 23 games ... Skipped Class A Advanced San Jose and was promoted to double-A Richmond, where he went 4-2 with 4.89 ERA (19er, 35.0ip) and 3 saves in 24 games. 2009 Saw time between 3 levels of Giants' farm system from Class A Augusta, Class A Advanced San Jose and double-A Connecticut ... during season, producing 0-0 record with 5.23 ERA (12er, 20.2ip) in 16 games ...
