2012 Acquired by the Padres in May and saw his first Big League action with the club, appearing in 26 Major League games total. Played in five games, four starts, for Triple-A Reno in the D-backs organization before being acquired by the Padres. Made five starts for Triple-A Tucson after being acquired, going 0-3 with a 7.77 ERA(19 ER/22.0 IP) from 5/5-25. After appearing in his first three games, two starts, for Double-A San Antonio from 6/1-11, converted to a reliever and went on to post a 1.31 ERA (3 ER/20.2 IP) with 27 strikeouts against just 17 hits allowed and 10 walks in 29 relief appearances for the Missions from 6/15-8/13, before his Major League call-up.
