Enjoyed four stints with Washington in 2015...Rebounded after enduring right elbow soreness during the 2014 campaign...Posted a 2.95 ERA in a career-high 19 starts for Triple-A Syracuse...Fell just short of qualifying to be among International League leaders (T8th) in ERA...From June 15-Aug. 11, went 3-1 with a 1.17 ERA (6 ER/46.0 IP) in eight AAA starts...Held opponents to a .194 average against him...Allowed zero earned runs in seven of his 19 Triple-A starts...Improved WHIP (1.26 in '14; 1.15 in '15) and hits per nine innings (9.0 in '14; 8.0 in '15)..Was recalled for the first time on May 24...Made one start, June 3 vs. TOR...Was recalled again when rosters expanded in September.

2014

In true breakout effort, began '13 with Potomac in the Single-A Carolina League, advanced the Harrisburg of the Double-A Eastern League, dominated (9-1, 1.00 ERA) the minor-league level and ultimately posted a 3.66 ERA in 9 starts for Washington...while in the minors, kept the ball in the yard
(one homer allowed) and posted strong strikeout (7.2 per 9.0) and walk (1.5 per 9.0) rates...of 271 outs recorded in minors, 210 (or 77.5%) came via the ground ball (138) or the strikeout (72)...with the Nationals, posted ground-ball percentage of 71.8 that would have ranked 2nd in MLB (A.J.
Burnett, 72.4)...made MLB debut on June 29 at NYM (loss, allowed 3 runs/one earned in 4.1 innings)...spun 6.0 innings of one-run ball to nab first MLB win in Washington's 14-1 victory over NYM, July 28 in DC...was initially selected to pitch in MLB's 15th Futures Game at Citi Field, but didn't participate due to MLB debut...didn't pitch after Sept. 16 while rehabbing a lower back strain...despite limited time in minor leagues (15 games/14 starts), 9 wins tied for 9th among Nationals farmhands.
