Kendrys day-to-day with right foot contusion

After fouling a pitch off the laces on his right foot in the fifth inning, Royals designated hitter Kendrys Morales was eventually replaced by pinch-hitter Christian Colon in a 7-3 win over the Indians on Monday night.

Full name is Christian Anthony Colon...resides in Peoria, Ariz., during the offseason with wife, Kayla and daughter, Marley...Attended three different high schools due to his father's job commitments, graduating from Canyon High in Anaheim, Calif...Named MVP of the Aflac All-American High School Baseball Classic in 2006...Selected by the San Diego Padres in the 10th round in 2007, but chose to attend Cal State Fullerton...Named a Freshman All-American by Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and Rivals.com at Fullerton in 2008, batting .329...a second-team All-American according to Baseball America and the NCBWA in 2009 after hitting .357 with eight home runs and 40 RBI as a sophomore...Helped Team USA to a 24-0 record at the 2008 FISU World Championships.

2015

Made his first Opening Day roster and spent a majority of the first-half in the big leagues…however, he was optioned to Omaha on July 3 and didn't return to the Majors until September 1...Batted .290 with five doubles and eight runs scored in 43 games with the Royals…made starts at shortstop (14), second base (eight) and third base (six) during the year...Hit .333 (12-for-36) against left-handed pitching…also hit .318 (7-for-22) with a .444 on-base percentage when leading off an inning...Recorded a .316 batting average (25-for-79) vs. A.L. 2013

Christian was named Omaha (AAA) Player of the Year by the Royals organization, spending the entire year with the Storm Chasers... Ranked eighth in the Pacific Coast League with a career-high 140 hits...also set career highs in games (131), at bats(512), runs scored (72), homers (12) and total bases (194)... Helped lead Omaha to PCL and Triple-A Championships, going 6-for-27 (.222) with two doubles, a homer and four runs scored in the postseason... Following the season, hit .284 (25-for-88) for Ponce in the Puerto Rican Winter League.

2012 Christian had a solid second full season of professional baseball and was both a Texas League All-Star and named Northwest Arkansas Player of the Year by the Royals organization...Was promoted to Omaha (AAA) in August and hit .412 in five games before having his season end prematurely due to a right eye injury suffered on a foul tip...Following the season, batted .301 with 26 runs scored in 39 games with 13 stolen bases in 17 attempts for Ponce in the Puerto Rican Winter League and was named the league's Rookie of the Year.
