Graduated from Spring-Ford Senior (Royerford, PA) High School...attended Penn State University. 2009 Spent entire campaign with Class A Advanced San Jose, going 16-2 with 2.86 ERA (47er, 147.2ip) and 135 strikeouts in 26 games (25 starts) to help lead Giants to California League Championship...was named California League Pitcher of Year, becoming 2nd-straight Giant and 3rd over last 4 seasons to take home award...led all Giants minor leaguers in victories and ranked 2nd overall among all minor leaguers, trailing High Desert's Donald Hume (17)...among all California League leaders ranked 1st in winning pct. (.889) and allowing fewest base runners per 9.0 innings (10.67), 2nd in wins, ERA and batting avg. against (.237), and 5th in strikeouts...was perfect 11-0 at home with 2.09 ERA (19er, 81.2ip) in 13 games...held lefties to impressive .185 avg. against (32-for-173)...set San Jose record by winning his last 15-consecutive decisions...went 15-0 with 2.47 ERA (34er, 123.2ip) during streak...set SJ Giants record and tied California League record by striking out 10-consective batters June 1 vs. Stockton...was named California League Pitcher of Week for July 27-Aug. 3, going at conclusion of season was named to CAL postseason All-Star team...did not appear in any of San Jose's playoff games as he was transferred to double-A Connecticut Sept. 8, day before California League playoffs started. 2008 Spent all of campaign at Class A Augusta, going 8-4 with 3.51 ERA (45er, 115.1ip) and 111 strikeouts in 23 games (21 starts)...tossed at least 6.0 innings in 10 of his 21 starts, recording 9 quality starts...held left-handed hitters to .212 avg. against (24-for-113) with only 7 extra-base hits...struck out season-high 11 batters April 26 vs. Asheville...ended season on strong note, going 2-0 in 5 games (4 starts) with 0.81 ERA (2er, 22.1ip). 2007 In 1st professional season with Short-Season Salem-Keizer went 5-3 with 2.98 ERA (18er, 54.1ip) and 55 strikeouts in 12 games.
