Joel Galarraga (Ruiz). 2009 Spent most of Spring Training in Major League camp and began the season in extended spring before joining Sacramento at the end of April...hit .357 with six RBI in 13 games with the River Cats before a shoulder injury ended his season in mid-May...added six walks for a .449 on-base percentage...reached base safely via hit or walk in 12 of his 13 contests...hit .438 (7 for 16) against left-handed pitching and .308 (8 for 26) against right-handers...his average dropped to .214 with runners in scoring position... appeared in six games at catcher and one in left field...also hit .333 in seven games at designated hitter and was 1 for 3 with a RBI as a pinch hitter...tossed out 1 of 6 (16.7%) attempted base stealers...was injured in a game against Round Rock May 17 but was not placed on the disabled list until June 1 with a strained right shoulder. 2008 Returned to Minatitlan of the Mexican League for the second consecutive season and batted .318 with 26 doubles, five triples, three home runs and 47 RBI in 105 games...added 55 walks for a .416 onbase percentage...led the Petroleros in runs (50), doubles (26), triples (5), walks (55) and stolen bases (10), tied for the lead in RBI and hit by pitches (9) and ranked second in games and hits (117)...hit .364 with two of his three home runs against left-handed pitching and .306 against right-handers...struck out just twice in his 77 at bats against lefties...batted .279 with the bases empty and .363 with runners on base...including .340 with runners in scoring position...was 3 for 7 (.429) with two triples with the bases loaded...batted .349 with all three of his home runs at home compared to .286 on the road...hit .453 in the first inning of a game...appeared in 102 games at catcher and led the league's catchers in total chances (582) and errors (11)...tossed out 53 of 108 (49.1%) attempted base stealers, which was fourth best in the league...also appeared in three games in left field, two at first base and one in right field...saw his most action batting in the three spot where he hit .332 in 64 games...hit .324 in March and .241 in April...his average dropped to .256 May 4 before unleashing a season best 17-game hitting streak from May 6 to 24 (25 for 64, .391)...that included a perfect 4 for 4 game May 7 against Tabasco when he also tripled and drove in four runs...reached base safely via hit or walk in 24 consecutive games from May 6 to June 5 and batted .353 in May...a 0 for 4 performance June 10 against Monclova put his batting average at .298 but he followed that up with four straight multiple hit games (8 for 17, .471) and his average never dipped below .300 the remainder of the season...hit .329 in June and .351 in July. 2007 Made his professional debut with Minatitlan of the Mexican League and batted .356 with three home runs and 29 RBI in 48 games...added 15 walks for a .410 on-base percentage...his batting average was the best among Petroleros with 150 or more at bats...hit .359 against right-handed pitching and .343 against left-handers...batted .302 with the bases empty and .420 with runners on...including .426 with runners in scoring position...all three of his home runs came in 21 games on the road but he had 20 of his 29 RBI in 27 games at home...appeared in 39 games at catcher and tossed out 14 of 44 (31.8%) attempted base stealers...started slowly as he hit .308 in 23 games in June...then batted .407 in 25 games in July...had a season best 11-game hitting streak from June 6 to 17 (16 for 45, .356)...was a perfect 4 for 4 July 1 against Quintana Roo.
