Combined to go 5-6 with a 3.19 ERA in 22 appearances (21 starts) between Northwest Arkansas (AA), Omaha (AAA) and Idaho Falls (Rookie) in the Royals organization...Spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Omaha as he made 15 starts and notched a 3.56 ERA (33 ER/83.1 IP) while fanning 67 batters...Held Triple-A right-handed hitters to a .247 average (40-for-162) while lefties hit .306 (48-for-157) off him...Following the season, made five starts for Aguilas Cibaenas of the Dominican Winter League and went 0-1 with a 2.35 ERA while fanning 21 over 23.0 innings.

In his seventh season in the Royals' system, Sugar spent the entire year at Northwest Arkansas (AA)...Tied for the Texas League lead with two complete games, the first two of his career...also ranked fourth in innings pitched (148.1), tied for fifth in starts (26) and seventh in strikeouts (119), which were all career highs..Went 5-4 with a 3.87 ERA (32 ER in 74.1 IP) at home, compared to 1-10 with a 4.74 ERA (39 ER in 74.0 IP) on the road...was 1-6 after July 1, however his ERA was lower after the All-Star break (3.76) compared to before it (4.78).

2012 Opened the season at High-A Wilmington and was dominant in 14 games (9 starts), going 4-2 with a 2.12 ERA...Named as a Carolina League All-Star and was the winning pitcher as the league defeated the California League All-Stars, 9-1...tossed a perfect fourth inning, striking out 2...Was promoted to Northwest Arkansas (AA) in late June and made 12 starts for the Naturals...Following the campaign, pitched for his native Colombia in World Baseball Classic Qualifying...earned a win over Nicaragua on November 16, allowing 1 run on 4 hits with 4 strikeouts in 5.0 innings...Also made a pair of appearances (1 start) for Licey in the Dominican Winter League, allowing 1 unearned run on 3 hits with 2 strikeouts in 5.0 innings. 2011 Made just 13 starts with Kane County in 2011, but was named a Midwest League All-Star...Missed a majority of the second half of the 2011 campaign with right rotator cuff impingement syndrome...Pitched 7.2 innings of a combined no-hitter for Kane County vs. Cedar Rapids on May 17, 2011.
