Played college baseball at Gonzaga University where he was West Coast Conference Co-Player of the year his freshman (2011) and junior (2013) seasons...shared the 2013 WCC Player of the Year honors with Chicago Cubs 2013 first round pick Kris Bryant from the University of San Diego...earned WCC Pitcher of the Year honors in 2012...All-West Region First Team and Player of the Year in 2012...named the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year for College Baseball in 2013 and a finalist in 2012...West Coast Conference Co-Freshman of the Year in 2011...was a member of the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team in 2012 and earned the Bronze medal...threw 8.0 innings, allowing one run and struck out nine against the Netherlands for the medal clinching win...was 3-0 with a 2.82 ERA in 22.1 IP with 29 K for Team USA and also batted .250 with 4 RBI...won four Colorado 5A State Championships while at Rocky Mountain High School...named the Gatorade Player of the Year for Colorado his senior season as well as first team All-State posting an 11-0 record with 87 strikeouts in 54 innings, while batting .436 with 7 home runs and 36 RBI in 26 games played...was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 29th round of the 2010 draft, but did not sign...his father, Frank, played collegiately and was a 16th round draft pick of the Detroit Tigers in 1989 and he is currently the manager of the Boise Hawks, the Rockies Northwest League minor league affiliate...resides in Seattle, Wash., with his wife, Monica.


Missed significant time on the disabled list with a left pectoral muscle injury…Opened the season at Memphis (AAA) and made three starts before landing on the disabled list on 4/21. Activated on 5/9 and made just three starts again before going on the D.L. a second time (5/21-7/9)…Made two starts each at Palm Beach (High-A) and Springfield (AA) upon being activated from the D.L. on 7/10. Did not allow an earned run (2R) in the combined 11.1 innings in those starts…Recalled to St. Louis on 9/1 and started vs. WSH that night. Allowed 4 runs in 2.2 IP and was optioned to Memphis (AAA) the next day…Rated as the 16th-best prospect in the Pacific Coast League by Baseball America and the 5th-best prospect in the Cardinals organization.


Made eight appearances and six starts between the Gulf Coast League and High-A Palm Beach (A)...Has not collected a decision in professional baseball going 0-0 with a 2.70 ERA, while holding opponents batters to a .212 (18-85) average...Struck out 23 batters over 23.1 innings for an 8.87 strikeouts/9 innings pitched mark...Was 0-0 with a 1.62 ERA in four starts covering 16.2 innings at Palm Beach...Had two scoreless starts, tossing 3.0 scoreless at Dunedin (8/2) and 4.2 in his final start vs. St. Lucie (8/22)...Posted a solid reverse split and held right-handed batters to a .148 BA (9-61)...Was very effective with runners on base, holding the opposition to a .194 BA (7-36)...Did not allow a first inning run in any of his starts in the Florida State League...Struck out five batters accounting for all the outs in a relief appearance vs. GCL Mets (7/29)...Rated as the No. 5 prospect in the Cardinals organization by Baseball America.
