James Richard Beresford (pronounced BEAR-ess-ferd)...attended Wesley College in Melbourne, Victoria (Australia)...played with Waverly Baseball Club in Australia and was named club Most Valuable Player before signing with the Twins in 2005...younger brother Simon was drafted by Milwaukee in 32nd round of 2002 First-Year Player Draft.

Represented team Australia in the World Baseball Classic, hitting .182 (2-for-11) with one walk in three games…Earned an invite to Twins spring training, reassigned to minor league camp March 14 and reported to Double-A New Britain…Hit .319 (22-for-69) in 21 April games and .333 (23-for-69) in 18 May games…Placed on 7-day disabled list May 4 with a groin strain; reinstated May 17…Hit safely in 19 of final 24 games for the Rock Cats and was promoted to Triple-A Rochester June 10…Hit .351 (20-for-57) with 14 runs scored in 18 July games and .303 (27-for-89) in 24 August games…Combined to hit .306 (109-for-356) in 103 games between both levels, including a .336 (96-for-286) average against right-handed pitching and a .186 (13-for-70) average against left-handers.
