Young Jr. is excited to help Mets' playoff chase

For the first time in more than a year, Eric Young Jr. stepped into Citi Field's home clubhouse Tuesday afternoon. A security guard greeted him with a hug. A team cook beamed at his arrival. The Mets were thrilled to have what Young called his own "brand of energy" back in the clubhouse.

Black's low rehab velocity causes Mets some concern

Vic Black's low velocity throughout his Minor League rehab stint has the Mets questioning their former setup man's readiness for the big leagues. As a result, Black is shifting his rehab to Triple-A Las Vegas, despite five consecutive scoreless outings at Double-A Binghamton.

Victor Laurence (Vic) Black graduated from Amarillo (TX) High School in 2006. Played baseball at Dallas Baptist University where he went 6-4 with 99 strikeouts in 88.2 innings as a junior in 2009 ... Struck out 246 batters in 245 career collegiate innings. Is the highest drafted player in Dallas Baptist baseball history...Alma mater also produced Ben Zobrist, Jason LaRue and Freddy Sanchez. Selected by the Mets in the 41st round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft, but did not sign.
