Christopher Marrero…Nicknamed "Nene" ("baby" in Spanish)…Was slated to play baseball at the University of Miami (FL) before signing pro contract…Older brother, Christian, is an outfielder and reached Triple-A for the first time in 2012…Washington's top selection in 2006 entered senior year of high school rated by Baseball America as the 2nd-best draft-eligible high school prospect.

Spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Syracuse in the Washington system...Was 2nd on the club in RBI (59), 3rd in HR (11) and 5th in total bases (164)...Had season-high 3 hits five times (last July 12)...Batted .400/.438/.700 in a 16-game stretch, April 14-30...Had season-long 11-game hit streak twice, May 10-20 (.319/.353/.511) and May 23-June 3 (.348/.388/.543)...Also appeared in 8 games for the Nationals, collecting a hit in each of his last two games (June 23 vs. COL and 27 vs. ARI)...Played for Licey in the Dominican Winter League after the season.
