A native of Havana, Cuba, established residency in Mexico before signing with BOS. 2012 Combined for .316 AVG, 28 doubles, 2 triples, 16 homers, 62 RBI, and 58 runs in 110 games between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket, almost tripling total games played in a pro season in the U.S. Began season with Portland...Played all 3 OF positions with the Sea Dogs (24 G in CF, 17 in RF, 11 in LF), and DH (9). Earned Eastern League Player of the Week honors for the league's opening week spanning 4/5-15...Tied for the EL lead with a .415 AVG in 11 games in that time...Tied for 2nd in the circuit with 17 hits and ranked 3rd in home runs (tied, 3), OBP (.489), and SLG (.707) during the span. On Opening Day (4/5) at Reading, led off GM 2 of the doubleheader with a homer...As the leadoff batter in the Sea Dogs' home opener vs. Binghamton on 4/12, deposited 1st pitch seen over CF wall for 2nd home run...The next day, smashed a game-winning, 2-run homer in the bottom of the 8th inning of Portland's 4-3 win over the Mets.
