Originally signed with Minnesota as a minor league free agent on Jan. 28, 1996...signed by Twins scout Howard Norsetter...Was released by Minnesota after the 1997 season and returned to Australia where he worked as a pharmaceutical salesman...spent eight years away from baseball in America before beginning a comeback in the winter of 2005 when he dropped down to a sidearm motion and gained 10 MPH on his fastball...made the Australian World Baseball Classic team and pitched in one game during the 2006 WBC, striking out Bobby Abreu, Marco Scutaro and Magglio Ordonez...signed with Atlanta immediately after the WBC on March 10, 2006...Originally added to a 40-man roster after getting selected by Atlanta on April 11, 2006...signed by the Astros to a minor league contract with an invite to Spring Training on Jan. 14, 2014...With the addition of Moylan, the Astros have had an Australian-born pitcher in each of the last three years...Travis Blackley (2012), Ryan Rowland-Smith (was an NRI 2011 but did not pitch in the Majors) were the others...Blackley is the only Australianborn pitcher to ever appear in a game for the Astros.

2013

Pitched in 14 Major League games across two stints with the Dodgers after starting the season as a non-roster invitee at Spring Training...began the season at Triple A Albuquerque before getting selected to the Major League roster on May 31...optioned back to Triple A on June 29...recalled to Los Angeles again on Sept. 1 where he remained through the end of the regular season...did not make the postseason roster...struck out 45 and posted a 2.74 ERA (14ER/46IP) in 38 games at Triple A.

Made eight appearances with Atlanta as a September call-up, allowing one earned run in 5.0 innings...held opposing hitters to a .167 average (3x18) including a .125 mark (2x16) against right-handers...worked his way back from shoulder surgery that was performed on Oct. 3, 2011...did not make his first appearance of the season until June 30 while with the Rookie Level GCL Braves...pitched at four levels of Atlanta's minor league system (Rookie, Class A, Double A, Triple A) during his rehab, compiling a 6.35 ERA in 22.2 innings pitched over 21 games (three starts).

2011 Earned first win of the season (18th of his career) with 1.0 scoreless inning of relief on 4/4 at MIL...Reinstated 9/4 from the 60-day DL after missing 123 games with a lower back strain. Had surgery on 5/17 to repair a bulging disc. In six rehab appearances with Gwinnett (AAA), allowed one earned run on five hits while striking out 10 batters in 6.0 IP...Suffered a torn right labrum and rotator cuff that landed him on the DL from 9/28 to the end of the season. 2010 ... Tied for second in the Majors with 85 appearances. Since the start of the 2009 season his 172 games are second-most among all Major League relievers (Pedro Feliciano, 180). Inherited 68 runners, the most in the Majors, and allowed 21 (30.9%) to score. 2009 Pitched in 87 games (2nd in Majors) and didn't allow a home run. Zimmerman's ninth-inning walkoff HR on 3/30 at WSH after retiring the first four batters. 2007 After being recalled from Richmond (AAA) on 4/14, Peter turned in a terrific rookie season during his second season with Atlanta after making 15 appearances in 2006...He led all MLB rookies with a 1.80 ERA, a .208 opp. average (min. 80 IP) and 80 games (7th in NL)...Twenty of his 80 appearances were more than 1.0 IP. Had a 0.65 ERA and .118 opponents' avg. in games in which he pitched more than 1.0 inning...Right-handed hitters managed just a .184 avg. but had all 6 HR he allowed, while left-handed hitters hit .242. In eight appearances vs. NYM, he was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 10.0 IP and allowed one hit (.033 opp. avg.). Pitched 2.0 perfect innings with two strikeouts on 8/28 at FLA. Suffered his first blown save on 8/23 at CIN, allowing a leadoff HR to E. Encarnacion in the 7th inning. Suffered his 2nd loss on 8/10 at PHI, allowing two hits and an unearned run in the 7th inning. Notched his 2nd win with a two shutout innings in the extra-inning affair at SF on 7/24. Got out of a no-out, runner-on-third jam in the fourth inning without letting the run score on 7/5 at LAD. Made his third 3.0 IP appearance on 6/9 vs. CHI, getting the win and matching his career-high. Notched his first career save on 4/27 when he nailed down the final out of the 9-7 win at COL. Claimed first career win with 3.0 scoreless innings of relief on 4/25 at FLA (1 H, 1 BB, 3 Ks). Earned first career hold on 4/18 when he induced a bases-loaded DP in the eighth inning vs. CHI. Was recalled from Richmond (AAA) on 4/14 when RHP Chad Paronto was placed on the disabled list. Made first appearance on 4/15 vs. FLA, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk. Had a save in two games at Richmond and allowing no runs with 3 K in 2.0 IP. Moylan's Career 2006 Returned to American baseball for the first time since 1997, when he was with the Twins.
