Graduated from Canyon Del Oro High School in Tucson, AZ in 2005, and drafted by Houston in the 22nd round...did not sign and instead went on to attend the University of Arizona ... Drafted again by Houston after his junior year at UA, during which he hit .315 (70x222) with 11 home runs, 39 RBI and 28 steals in 56 games...signed by Astros scout Mark Ross ... Signed to a minor league contract, Steele was invited to Major League Spring Training on Jan. 12, 2011. 2010 Entered the season ranked as the Astros No. 10 prospect, and named the organization's best defensive outfielder by Baseball America... made a few appearances as a minor-league call-up with the Astros in Spring Training, posting a .357 (5x14) average with four RBI and two steals in seven games... reported to Double A Corpus Christi, where he hit .228 (55x241)... went on the DL on July 26 and missed the final two months of the season...
