Selected by Toronto in the 17th round of the 2005 draft but did not sign, returning to college for his senior season...attended Southern Illinois University and was named second team all- Missouri Valley Conference as a junior...resides in St. Louis, Mo. 2009 Made 58 relief appearances between Springfield (AA) and Memphis (AAA)...Tied for Springfield team lead with 52 appearances and was first on the team in strikeouts among relief pitchers (78),..Ranked second among Cardinals minor leaguers with 58 appearances and third with 11.65 K/9 IP...Converted five of six save opportunities, finishing third on Springfield team in saves...Had 13 appearances of two innings or more with 10 being scoreless...Stranded 19 of 25 inherited runners...Held opposing left-handed hitters to a .176 average with only one extra base hit out of 12 total hits...Led Texas League with 18 holds, finished 3rd in the TL in opp. BA (.219) and 2nd in strikeouts per nine innings (11.90)...Compiled a career mark of 8.9 K/9 IP over 322.2 IP holding LH batters to a .204 avg.
