The Dodgers' deep bullpen has been a big reason for their first-place standing in the National League West. But as play began Thursday afternoon, that depth was in jeopardy of taking a temporary hit, with righty reliever Pedro Baez dealing with a possible concussion and right-hander Louis Coleman placed on the bereavement list.

Full name is Harold Louis Coleman III...married Allie in fall of 2013...Allie is the sister of former Royal and current Ranger Nate Adcock ... participated in the 2011 and 2014 Royals FanFest and the 2012 Royals Caravan. Graduated from Pillow Academy in Greenwood, Miss., in 2005. Selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 25th round of the 2005 Draft, but chose to attend LSU on a baseball scholarship. Selected by the Washington Nationals in the 14th round of the 2008 Draft after junior season in which he went 8-1 with a 1.95 ERA, but chose to return LSU for his senior season where he earned a B.S. in agricultural business. Selected as SEC Pitcher of the Year in 2009 and led the Tigers to the College World Series ... was on the mound as the last out was recorded, sealing the title vs. Texas with 2.0 scoreless innings of relief. Was 14-2 his senior campaign at LSU with a 2.93 ERA and 142 strikeouts...ranked second in the nation in wins and fourth in strikeouts ... earned first-team All-American honors from ABCA, Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and Rivals.com.

2015

Spent majority of the 2015 season with the Royals' Triple-A Omaha, going 8-2 with nine saves and a 1.69 ERA (12 ER/64.0 IP) in 38 games. ... Struck out 63 in 64.0 innings and limited opposing hitters to a .212 batting average, while posting a 1.11 WHIP. ... Named Pacific Coast League Mid-Season All-Star, going 5-1 with six saves and a 1.76 ERA (8 ER/41.0 IP)…limited batters to a .226 average and a posted a 1.17 WHIP. ... 2014

Louis had some struggles in 2014 after recording the second-lowest ERA among MLB pitchers with at least 25.0 innings in 2013...Opened the season on the disabled list, missing eight games due to a bone contusion and sprained middle finger on his pitching hand...Activated on April 9...Appeared in 17 games before being optioned to Triple-A Omaha on June 2; was recalled and optioned two more times before being recalled for a final time on August 29...Earned his first save since the 2011 season in the finale at Chicago on September 28, protecting a 6-4 lead...Allowed just two runs over his final nine appearances of the season (1.69 ERA), while he posted a 1.06 WHIP over 10 appearances in September...Went 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA and seven saves over 28 games at Omaha.

2013

Louis opened a third-straight season with Omaha (AAA), and once again, made a significant contribution at the big league level, appearing in 27 games. Recorded a stretch of 21.0 scoreless Major League innings (May 23-August 23) ... his scoreless streak totaled 26.0 innings, dating back to September 25, 2012, setting a new Royals record for a reliever, passing Joakim Soria's 23.2-straight scoreless frames in 2010. His 0.61 ERA was the lowest among A.L. pitchers with at least 25.0 innings pitched and second-lowest in MLB. Recorded a 1.61 ERA over two stints with Omaha, earning PCL All-Star honors, though he did not participate after being promoted to Kansas City on July 8. Produced a dominant stretch after a second recall from Omaha, averaging 15.43 strikeouts per 9 IP, while holding opponents to a .071 average (2-for-28) from July 10 to August 2. Made two late-season appearances with Wilmington (A), tossing 2.0 scoreless innings before rejoining the Royals on September 3.
