Pitched and played right field at Winthrop University, earning First Team All-Conference honors at both positions in 2006...went 13-4, 3.51 on the mound that year while hitting .328 with 4 HR, 31 RBI and 25 SB...was one of 30 semifinalists for the Brooks Wallace Award (College Baseball Foundation's Player of the Year). 2009 Spent most of the season in the rotation at Double-A Montgomery, and earned an Aug 30 call-up to Triple-A Durham...tied for the Biscuits team lead in wins and ranked second in innings pitched and games started...made 22 starts for Montgomery before he was moved to the bullpen on Aug 8 and made 5 relief appearances prior to the promotion. 2008 Led Class-A Vero Beach with 115 strikeouts...prior to his Aug 11 promotion to Montgomery, led the team with a 3.30 ERA...named to the Florida State League midseason All-Star Team. 2007 Was named Pitcher of the Year for Class-A Columbus after going 17-4 with a 2.54 ERA...set the Rays organizational record with 17 wins, a mark that tied for the most in the minor leagues...was the first Sally League pitcher to win 17 games since Fausto Carmona of Lake County (Indians) in 2003...his 2.54 ERA was 2nd in the organization and 4th in the league while his 149 strikeouts ranked 2nd in the league and 3rd in the system...twice was the Rays minor league Pitcher of the Month (May and July).
