Played at both Western Nevada Community College and Everett (WA) CC after graduating from Kentridge High School in Kent, Wash...Was drafted by Atlanta twice previously: 15th round in 2005 and in the 45th round in 2006…was a draft-and-follow selection both times for the Braves, but was never signed.

Appeared in 31 games for triple-A Fresno, going 3-0 with a 5.24 ERA (20 ER, 34.1 IP)...Was placed on the disabled list from April 4- May 17 with a knee bruise and from July 18-25 with a concussion...Posted a 1.56 ERA (3 ER, 17.1 IP) over his last 16 games.

2012 Missed the entire campaign after undergoing a second "Tommy John" surgery. 2010 Did not pitch all season as he continued to recover from right elbow surgery...acquired by Texas from Chicago-NL on Dec. 9, 2010 in exchange for cash considerations ...
