Fernando Hernandez, Jr....attended Broward (FL) Junior College and was a draft and follow from the 2002 draft after being selected by the White Sox in the 49th round...was scouted and signed by White Sox scouts Joe Butler and George Kachigian on May 26, 2003...graduated from Southwest HS (Miami, FL). 2009 Spent most of the season at Double-A Birmingham where he ranked third in the Southern League with 20 saves while posting a 2-3 record and a 1.71 ERA in 44 relief appearances...was promoted to Triple-A Charlotte Aug. 1 and was 1-1 with a 1.59 ERA in 13 appearances...combined for a 3-4 record, a career high 20 saves and a 1.68 ERA in 57 relief appearances...ranked second in the White Sox farm system in saves...yielded just two home runs in 69.2 innings and struck out 70...allowed a .181 opponents batting average, including .179 (26 for 145) against right-handed hitters and .183 (19 for 104) against left-handers...his opponents average dropped to .101 with runners in scoring
