Is a product of the Astros Dominican Academy and was signed as a 17-year-old non-drafted free agent on Dec. 13, 2002...signed by Astros scouts Julio Linares, Adriano Rodriguez and Rick Aponte ... Named Houston's No. 4 prospect by Baseball America prior to the 2010 season...his slider has been named by BA as the best in the Astros organization prior to the last two seasons (2009-10)...also prior to 2008, his changeup was coined as the organization's best by BA ... Was originally placed on the Astros 40-man roster on Nov. 10, 2007...on Dec. 15, 2010, signed to a minor league contract through the 2011 season. 2010 Made six appearances for Houston, going 0-1 with a 12.27 ERA (5ER/3.2IP)... began the season in the Astros Opening Day bullpen... appeared in two of the club's first three games of the season before being placed on the Disabled List on April 8 with right rotator cuff inflammation... reinstated on April 25 and made four outings before being optioned to Triple A on May 5... made seven outings at Triple A, posting a 3.48 ERA (4ER/10.1IP), before
