Graduated from Sylmar (CA) High School. Attended Glendale Community College before transferring to Long Beach State University.


Made his first 18 appearances of the season as a starter, going 7-6 with a 4.96 ERA. The team went 9-9 in his starts, recording nine quality starts. Was moved to the bullpen after the July 11 promotion of Jimmy Nelson. Allowed a Major League-leading 29 HR (27 as a starter). Made his final 21 appearances of the season in relief, posting a 2.89 ERA (43.2 IP, 2HR, 14ER). Went unscored upon over his last nine outings (16.1 IP). Prior to this season had not pitched in relief since July 8, 2012 at Houston (54 straight starts).

2012 Went 5-7 with a 3.64 ERA in 29 appearances (23 starts). Made his fi rst Opening Day roster. Was named Brewers Unsung Hero as voted on by members of the Milwaukee Chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America. Went 5-7 with a 3.76 ERA in his 23 starts (129.1ip, 54er) and 0-0 with a 2.00 ERA in his 6 relief appearances (9ip, 2er). His first 5 appearances of the season came in relief ... joined the rotation after an injury to Chris Narveson in late April. Contract was selected from Triple-A Nashville on 4/6 (did not pitch for Nashville) ... Made 4 relief appearances during the postseason, going 0-0 with a 6.00 ERA (6ip, 4er) 2010 Was claimed off waivers by Milwaukee from Washington on 2/3 ... Began the season at Triple-A Nashville, where he went 1-2 with a 3.15 ERA in 7 starts and held opponents to a .208 batting average ... Was recalled by Milwaukee on 5/18 ...
