Joshua Rashaad Johnson...graduated from Middleton (FL) High in 2004...was named a 2004 Louisville Slugger Preseason High School All-American...was a 2-time All-State selection in talent-rich Florida...was slated to play collegiately at the University of Texas until signing professionally with the Royals...father, Larry Doby Johnson, was a catcher who went 5-for-26 (.192) with 2 doubles and one RBI in 12 big league games spanning 5 seasons (1972, '74-6, '78) with the Indians, Expos ('75-76) and White Sox.

2013

Spent time with Syracuse of the Triple-A International League (.341, .458 OBP, 35 games) and Harrisburg of the Double-A Eastern League...matched career-high with 8 home runs despite playing approximately half of games in pitcher-friendly ballparks in Syracuse (NBT Bank Stadium) and Harrisburg (Metro Bank Park)...for first time in career, hit 2 homers in a single game (in game's first 2 innings), May 24 vs. Reading...after missing 2-plus weeks (death in family), hit a pinch-hit solo homer to account for the lone run in Harrisburg's 1-0 win, June 11 vs. Richmond.

Hit .395 in 11 games with Harrisburg, but spent the majority of the summer (76 games) with Syracuse in first taste of Triple-A.

Matched career-high with 24 doubles while spending the entire season with Harrisburg...scored 70 runs to set a career high...played defensively in the outfield for the first time (8 errorless games).

Signed with the Nationals as a minor-league free agent and combined to hit .293 and post a .385 OBP in exactly 100 games for Harrisburg (74 games) and Potomac (26).
