Background

Mike Borzello enters his fourth season as the Dodgers' bullpen catcher following 12 seasons in the Yankees' organization.

Borzello, 40, was a member of four World Championship teams with New York (1996, 1998-2000). He had two stints as a bullpen catcher and batting practice pitcher after joining the Yankees in 1996. He also spent two seasons operating the radar gun and charting pitches.

Borzello was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1991 First-Year Player Draft and spent five years in their minor league system before joining the Yankees' staff. He served on the field staff for the American League All-Star Team in 1997, 2000, and 2001.

In 1999, Borzello appeared as John C. Reilly's catching double in Universal Pictures' "For Love of the Game" with Kevin Costner, which also featured Dodger Hall of Fame broadcaster Vin Scully. He earned a bachelor's degree in Communication Arts from California Lutheran University. He resides in Tarzana and has a daughter, Emily.
