Graduated first in his class, was the KC Star's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year and also was chosen as Missouri's High School Heisman Award winner... Graduated from and played baseball at Wichita State University... Was 9-3 with a 2.25 ERA as a senior and was named First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference.

2013

Appeared in 42 games with Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-A Buffalo after being claimed off waivers by Toronto in January of 2013 … went 0-1 with a 4.19 ERA (20 ER/43.0 IP) and 42 strikeouts in his lone season with the Blue Jays organization .... Began the year with New Hampshire, and went 0-1 with one save and a 4.74 ERA (13 ER/24.2 IP) in 18 relief appearances ... Struck out a season-high five hitters in 2.0 innings of work, April 12 at Binghamton ... Limited Double-A left-handed hitters to a .172 average (5-for-29) with 13 strikeouts ...
