Married Hayley … attended Ohio State University, where he went 20-9 with a 2.86 ERA over games from 2005-07 … is a 2004 graduate of Marion Local High School in Maria Stein, Ohio...Was selected by Pittsburgh in the 18th round in 2004 and Texas in the 22nd round in 2006, but did not sign.

2016

Began the season in the Pittsburgh bullpen after coming to spring training as a non-roster invitee … his contract was purchased on 4/3...Made his season debut on 4/6 vs. St. Louis, throwing 0.2 scoreless IP in his first MLB appearance since 4/27/12 with S.D...Was on the disabled list from 4/14-5/14 with right hamstring tightness, which included seven appearances with Class AAA Indianapolis on a rehab assignment ...Gave up three runs over 0.1 IP on 5/16 vs. Atlanta and was optioned back to Indianapolis on 5/18 … was recalled on 6/8 and designated for assignment on 6/18...Was released on 6/26 and signed by Miami on 7/6, where he made four appearances across three minor-league stops … his last outing came on 7/16 with Class AAA New Orleans … missed the rest of the season with left shoulder soreness.

Padres won his other four starts from 4/11-27, going 3-0 with a 1.37 ERA(4 ER/26.1 IP) and 17 strikeouts against just 19 hits allowed over that span. Worked a career-high 8.0 innings in his second-to-last start on 4/21 at PHI, allowing just two hits and two walks with no runs while striking out five.
