Aaron Marshall Thompson...2005 graduate of Second Baptist High School in Houston, TX, where he went 8-3 with two saves and a 0.84 ERA as a senior...also struck out 133 batters in 66.0 innings pitched...signed a letter of intent with Texas A&M before signing with the Florida Marlins.


Was an invitee to Twins spring training and reassigned to minor league camp March 24; began season at Triple-A Rochester...Posted a 0.90 ERA (10.0 IP, 1 ER) with 11 strikeouts and four walks in 11 June appearances...33 of 46 appearances for the Red Wings were scoreless...Held left-handed hitters to a .200 (12-for-60) batting average while at Rochester...Led the Red Wings in appearances (46)...Had contract selected from Triple-A Rochester August 31 as Samuel Deduno was claimed off waivers by Houston; spent the rest of the season with Minnesota...Made Twins debut August 31 at Baltimore, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings of relief, his first major league appearance since September 18, 2011 at Los Angeles-NL, with Pittsburgh...Six of seven appearances for Twins were scoreless, posting a 2.45 ERA (7.1 IP, 2 ER)...Combined to go 3-3, 3.79 ERA (59.1 IP, 25 ER) with 28 walks and 57 strikeouts in 53 appearances between Rochester and Minnesota.
