Jared Lynn Wells...a member of Team USA that participated in the World Cup in 2005...went 2-0 with a 1.64 ERA (2 ER/11.0 IP) with 13 strikeouts in two starts...graduated from West Columbia High School (TX) and subsequently attended San Jacinto (TX) Junior College...signed by scout Jay Darnell (Padres)...Wells resides in Brazoria Texas with his wife, Molly...he has two daughters: Gracie and Chloe. 2007 Pitched the entire season at Triple-A Portland, going 3-7 with nine saves and a 5.24 ERA (54 ER/92.2 IP) in 47 games (10 starts)...struck out 87 compared to 48 walks...started 10 of his first 12 appearances before moving to the bullpen for the remainder of the season on 6/8...went 2-1 with nine saves and a 2.93 ERA (14 ER/43.0 IP) in 37 relief appearances...did not allow a home run in 43.0 relief innings...held left-handed hitters to a .269 batting average (42-for-156)...did not yield a run in his final 15 outings of the season (13.2 IP) from 8/6-9/3, converting seven consecutive save opportunities over that span. 2006 He went 4-3 with a 2.64 ERA in 12 starts with Double-A Mobile before getting promoted to Triple-A Portland.
