2006Kiger spent the regular season in the Minor Leagues and made his Major League debut during Game 3 of the American League Championship Series against the Tigers. He didn't get an at-bat and replaced D'Angelo Jimenez at second base after Bobby Kielty pinch-hit. He was put on the A's playoff roster after second baseman Mark Ellis suffered a broken finger in Game 2 of the AL Division Series against the Twins. Kiger got the call because shortstop Bobby Crosby was on the disabled list with a lower back problem and backup infielder Antonio Perez had a broken finger. Kiger played 58 games with Double-A Midland and hit .307 with six homers, 12 doubles and 20 RBIs. In 61 games with Triple-A Sacramento, he hit .233 with three homers, eight doubles and 14 RBIs.
