Was selected by the Yankees in the 30th round of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft but elected to attend the College of the Sequoias in Visalia, Calif., where he graduated from in May 2005. 2009 Combined to go 4-3 with two saves and a 3.52 ERA in 45 appearances (one start) with Single-A Tampa and Double-A Trenton (71.2IP, 28ER)... began the season with Tampa, before being promoted to Trenton on 7/8, where he went 4-2 with one save and a 3.22 ERA in 21 relief appearances (36.1IP, 13ER)... following the season, pitched for the Surprise Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, earning two saves without recording a decision in 10 relief appearances (2.89 ERA, 9.1IP, 7H, 3ER). 2008 Went 3-6 with two saves and a 4.30 ERA in 30 appearances (eight starts) with Single-A Tampa... struck out a season-high six batters on 6/9 at St. Lucie, while tossing a season-high 6.1 innings on 6/19 at Lakeland... recorded a career-high five straight losing decisions from 5/10-7/6... was placed on the disabled list from 8/21 through the remainder of the season with a left knee strain. 2007 Was 14-8 with a 3.82 ERA in 27 starts with Single-A Charleston... tied for fourth in the South Atlantic League in starts and tied for fifth with a career-high and team-high 14 wins... tied for second among all Yankees minor leaguers in wins and ranked third in strikeouts... had two career-high four-game winning streaks (4/22-5/9 and 6/16-7/8)... recorded at least 1K in 26 of his 27 appearances... was placed on the D.L. from 7/30-8/8 with a right thigh contusion. 2006 Ranked third among all Yankees' minor-league pitchers with a 1.97 combined ERA, posting a 5-4 record in 14 games with the Gulf Coast League Yankees and short-season Single-A Staten Island... spent majority of season with the Gulf Coast Yankees, posting a 5-1 record with a 1.14 ERA in 11 games (eight starts)... led all Gulf Coast League pitchers in ERA and strikeouts (59) and ranked second in the league in wins... made three starts with Class-A Staten Island and went 0-3 with a 5.25 ERA. 2005 In his first professional season, went 0-1 with a 6.48 ERA in four games (two starts) with the Gulf Coast Yankees... appeared in only four games before being placed on the disabled list with a fractured right foot.
