The Angels signed right-handed reliever Andrew Bailey to a one-year contract on Wednesday and designated outfielder Shane Robinson for assignment.

Angels recall outfielder Buss

The seasonal shuffle of the outfield continued on Saturday when the Angels recalled outfielder Nick Buss prior to their tilt with the Indians. To make room, outfielder Shane Robinson was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right hip strain and infielder Sean Coyle was designated for assignment.

Graduated from Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit High School in 2002, the same high school to produce manager Lou Piniella, Brad Radke, Jason Michaels and Dave Magadan...lettered all four years in both baseball and football and was recruited by Duke and Stanford for football...Jesuit retired his No. 3 in football...was named first team All-State in baseball and football his junior and senior seasons... played college baseball for Florida State and started all 202 games during his career, and is the only player in FSU history to steal 100 bases over his time there...compiled a 40-game hitting streak at FSU in 2005 (T11th all-time NCAA), snapping J.D. Drew's school record of 34 - Florida's House of Representatives passed a resolution recognizing the streak...that same year led the NCAA in runs scored (96) and was the first player in school history to have 100 hits and steal 40 bases in the same season...named 2005 National Player of the Year...played for Team USA in 2005...resides in Atlanta, Ga., with his wife, Jessica, and their daughter, Tinley Anne (4/26/12).

Spent his first full season at the Major League level aside from injury rehab stint at Springfield (AA) during his stay on the disabled list (7/31-8/15) for a right shoulder strain... Played in 99 games, starting 30 (5 LF, 21 CF, 4 RF). Posted an RBI in each of his last four games started... Had five multi-hit games with two three-hit games, tying his career-best... Stole a season-best five bases, while tying his season-high of 16 RBI and 22 runs... Went 5-for-18 (.278) as a pinch-hitter. The 5 PHs were T2nd-most on the team (Matt Adams, 11)...
