Darren Scott Ford ... resides in Vineland, NJ ... lettered in baseball, football and track at Vineland High School ... attended Chipola JC (FL) ... father, Ted Ford, played four seasons in the Majors with Cleveland (1970-71, 73) and Texas (1972) ... originally selected by Milwaukee in the 18th round of the 2004 June draft ... signed by Tony Blengino. 2011 Spent most of season in minor leagues, but did appear in 26 games for the Giants, being used almost exclusively as pinch-runner or late-inning defensive replacement in outfield ... made 15 appearances, all in center field, but did not make a start ... began season playing in 7 games for AAA Fresno before being recalled April 15 ... first Major League at-bat April 16 at Arizona after playing in 8 games as defensive replacement in outfield (7 in 2010, 1 in 2011) ...collected his first Major League hit April 30 at Washington (off Tyler Clippard) ... suffered ankle injury May 22 vs. Oakland, landing on the 15-day DL from May 23-June 20 with a left ankle sprain...optioned to Fresno on June 20 and appeared in just 7 games before landing on MiLB DL with wrist injury ... finished his minor league season with AA Richmond, appearing in 23 games and hitting .279 (24x86) ... recalled to San Francisco Sept. 2 and appeared in 9 games with Giants. 2010 Made his 1st career appearance with big league club as he earned Sept. call-up after hitting .251 (116-for-463) with 20 2Bs, 9 3Bs, 5 HRs, 40 RBI and 37 stolen bases with double-A Richmond ...
