Drafted out of Newton Community High School in Illinois by Montreal following his senior season in 2001...did not sign and went on to attend Wabash Valley Junior College (IL)...pitched one year at Wabash, posting a 2.44 ERA (21ER/77.1IP) in 12 starts...drafted out of Wabash by Florida in the 18th round of the June 2002 draft...signed by Marlins scout Scott Engler ...
