Bryan Christopher Augenstein (pronounced AH-gun-steen)...2004 graduate of Sebastian River (FL) High School...entered his senior season having been selected to Louisville Slugger's preseason All-America first team...father Fred played basketball and golf at Ohio State University...attended the University of Florida from 2005-07. 2012 Signed with Tampa Bay as a minor league free agent January 24 and spent the season with Triple-A Durham. ... Made one start before being placed on 7-day disabled list with elbow soreness April 10; reinstated May 20. ... Did not allow a run and struck out 19 batters in first nine appearances (15.0 IP) back from the DL May 22-June 19. ... Place on 7-day disabled list July 27; reinstated August 8, but did not play and was placed back on DL August 10, ending his season. 2011 Opened the season in the St. Louis Cardinals bullpen and made 5 apps but was placed on the disabled list with a right groin strain on April 13...suffered the injury the inning after collecting his first major league hit on April 12 at ARI...made 3 rehab apps with Class-A Palm Beach and then spent the rest of the season with Triple-A Memphis where he held right-handed hitters to a .205 avg. (17-for-83). 2010 Was a combined 6-9, 6.49 ERA in 25 games (22 starts) with Reno (AAA) and Mobile (AA).
