Graduate of Olive Branch (Miss.) High School in 2004 where he was named Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior...attended Mississippi State University...recipient of the 2007 Johnny Bench Award, awarded to the nation's top collegiate catcher...he and his wife, Liza, reside in Memphis, Tenn.

2014

In his first season with the Cardinals organization, spent the entire year at Triple-A Memphis, catching the majority (79) of their games...Caught 22 of 52 attempted base stealers (42%)...After a slow start, finished the season batting .296 while hitting over .300 in June (.314), July (.328) and August/September (.391)...Batted .391 (25-64) in Aug./Sept. including a 10-game hitting streak from 8/9-25 in which he hit .583 (21-36), scored 15 runs and drove in 15 runs. Also hit six doubles, a triple, five home runs and 19 RBI...Hit a career high 10 home runs, five of them in August...Went 3-6 (.500) with the bases loaded, including his 3rd career grand slam (8/10 vs. New Orleans).
