Martinez...Attended Coral Park HS (Miami, FL), Jackson State Community College (Jackson, TN) and Cumberland University (Lebanon, TN)...Originally drafted in 12th round of 2007 amateur draft by San Diego...Signed by Padres scout Ash Lawson...Acquired by Texas in exchange for minor leaguer Ryan Kelly, Dec. 21, 2011.

2012 Had 2 stints in the majors in his 1st season in the TEX organization, going 2-for-18 in 10 games/6 starts at catcher ... Was recalled from Round Rock (AAA) on July 14 and saw action behind the plate in one game defensively ... Optioned to the Express on July 21, then promoted on Aug. 11 when Mike Napoli went on the DL ... Spent the rest of the season with the club, making 6 starts as the backup catcher in Napoli's absence through mid-September ... Only hits were singles on Aug. 29 vs. TB and Sept. 2 at CLE ...
