Graduated from Northeast Guilford High School in McLeansville, N.C., in May of 2004...Originally selected by the Cubs in the seventh round of the 2004 First Year Player Draft. 2011 Suffered a strained oblique at the beginning of spring training and began the season on the disabled list...Began rehab assignment with Class-A Frederick, making two starts, April 17-23, allowing three runs over nine innings...Transferred to Double-A Bowie from April 29-May 15 and made four starts, going 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA (26.2IP,10ER)...Worked at least 6.0 innings in all four outings and allowing three or fewer runs in three of the four appearances...Made 17 starts for Triple-A Norfolk, going 3-7 with a 5.44 ERA (94.1IP, 57ER) and eight Quality Starts...ERA was 2.67 runs per game lower away from Harbor Park (6.70 in nine home starts and 4.03 in eight road starts)...Made his Orioles debut July 5 at Texas, allowing just one run over six innings despite allowing eight hits in a no-decision...Allowed nine runs over 4.2 innings in his next two starts and was optioned back to Norfolk following his third start on July 17...Allowed 21 hits in 10.2 innings for the Orioles. 2010 Appeared in a career-high five games for Chicago (NL)...Struck out a career-high three batters July 11 at Los Angeles (NL) and August 4 vs. Milwaukee...Pitched more than 1.0 innings in four of his five outings for the Cubs...Struck out at least one batter in each appearance for Chicago...Allowed at least one earned run in four of his five outings...Struck out a season-high eight batters while allowing just three hits on May 31 in Iowa's 8-0 loss to Nashville...Named PCL Pitcher of the Week for May 31-June 6 after going 1-0 with a 0.75 ERA in two starts for Iowa...Served two stints in Iowa's bullpen, going 2-1 with one save and a 2.59 ERA in 13 appearances...Tossed six scoreless innings and struck out five against Omaha on August 25 2009 Mitch was selected from Triple-A Iowa July 29 and tossed 2.0 scoreless innings in two relief outings with Chicago, July 29-30...with Iowa, he made 27 starts in his first season pitching exclusively at the Triple-A level...
