Matthew Jared (Matt) Wright resides in Lorena, Texas...Graduated from Robinson (Texas) High...played in the Class A-AAA Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association 2000 All-Star Game. 2009 Began the season on the disabled list and went 1-5 with a 6.75 ERA in nine games, eight starts, with Triple-A Omaha before he was released July 6...allowed a .299 batting average, including .250 (13 for 52) against left-handed hitters and .324 by right-handers (34 for 105)...yielded all three of his home runs to righties and all were solo shots...opponents hit .322 with runners in scoring position, but that mark dropped to .190 with RISP and two outs...was placed on the disabled list April 9 with a strained left thigh and was reinstated from the DL May 14...had a no decision that day at Salt Lake, allowing three runs on five hits in 4.0 innings...struck out a season high seven in a season high tying 6.0 innings, June 15 at New Orleans but had another no decision...went 0-5 in his eight starting assignments and the Royals lost all three of his no decisions...his only win came in his final outing of the season, July 2 against New Orleans, when he tossed 3.1 innings of relief (2 h, 1 r, 1 er, 2 high...opponents hit .236...started the season with a seven-game losing streak but then went 10-1 with a 1.77 ERA over his final 14 games. 2001 In his first season as a starter, he went 3-5 with a 3.72 ERA in 14 starts for Danville of the Appalachian Rookie League...led the league in starts, finished second in strikeouts (89) and fourth in innings pitched (72.2). 2000 Began his professional career with the Braves affiliate in the Gulf Coast Rookie League and was 0-2 with a 0.86 ERA and a career high four saves in 12 relief appearances....struck out 30 and did not allow a home run in 21.0
