Two-time American League All-Star Carlos Quentin asked for his release from the Mariners after five games with Triple-A Tacoma and announced his retirement from baseball on Friday.

Two-time All-Star outfielder Carlos Quentin has signed a Minor League deal with the Mariners and will report to Triple-A Tacoma, the club announced Wednesday.
