JUAN CEDENO...was born and makes his off-season home in Higuey, DR. 2011 Appeared in 17 games (three starts) with Rio Valley Grande in the Independent North American Baseball League, going 3-1 with a 6.49 ERA (43.0IP, 31ER)... made 15 relief appearances with the Tigres de Licey during the 2011 DWL, going 1-0 with a 1.04 ERA (8.2IP, 8H, 3R, 1ER, 3BB, 6K). 2010 Did not pitch during the regular season. 2009 Signed with Doosan in the Korean Baseball Organization, going 4-7 with a 5.70 ERA (71.0IP, 45ER), 48BB and 41K. 2008 Signed with Washington on 11/6/07 and was selected by Detroit in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 Draft on 12/6/07...combined with Double-A Erie and Single-A Lakeland to go 3-2 with a 4.30 ERA (60.2IP, 29ER) before being released on 8/1...signed with Los Angeles-NL on 8/3 and reported to Single-A Great Lakes for the remainder of the season (0-4, 4.22 ERA in six starts). 2007 In his final season with the Royals organization, went 3-2 with a 6.33 ERA (69.2IP, 49ER) in 35 games (one start)...lone start came on 6/12 vs. Tulsa...pitched with Licey in the Dominican Winter League following the season (1-0, 1.54 ERA). 2006 Cedeno was the key to the 2005 trade of Tony Graffanino to the Red Sox. His big problem was control -- 78 walks in 90 1/3 innings. 2005 Split season between Wilmington (A) and Wichita (AA)...went 2-6 with a 5.49 ERA in 22 games (12 starts) at Wilmington prior to being traded to the Kansas City organization on July 19 in a deal that sent Tony Graffanino to Boston...allowed 85 hits in 80.1 innings, walking 37 and striking out 71...Following the trade, appeared in 11 games for Wichita, also making 1 start... went 0-2 with a 7.20 ERA, allowing 21 hits in 20.0 innings while walking 11 and striking out 16. 2004 Went 7-6 with a 4.64 ERA in 25 games (22 starts) with Single-A Sarasota...logged a career-high 120.1 innings while walking 4 fewer batters than his 2003 total in 20 fewer innings...was 7-3 with a 3.38 ERA (35 ER/93.1 IP) through his first 19 outings (17 starts), but went 0-3 with a 9.00 ERA (27 ER/27.0 IP) in his final 6 games (5 starts) beginning July 1...was touched for 6 home runs in his final 10 games (41.2 IP) after surrendering only 2 long balls in his first 15 contests (78.2 IP) ...
