Maybin to begin 2nd rehab stint; return nears

Cameron Maybin's rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo is officially over as his left wrist recovers from a hit-by-pitch on Sunday. The Tigers recalled Maybin on Wednesday and left him on the DL, but the injured outfielder could actually be closer to a return.

Tigers set roster with Kensing addition, DL 6

The Tigers don't open their regular season until Tuesday night against the Marlins, but their Opening Day roster is set. Detroit officially purchased the contract of reliever Logan Kensing, then cut its roster to 25 Sunday by placing six players on the 15-day disabled list.

Logan French Kensing...Is a 2001 graduate of Boerne (TX) High School, where he earned four letters in baseball...Posted a 27-10 record in his four years of high school ball and led his club to four district championships...Went 9-3 as a pitcher and hit .390 as a senior...Also earned three letters as an All-District receiver in football...Attended Texas A&M University and went 3-2 with two saves and a 2.50 ERA in 21 games during his freshman season in 2002...Went 7-5 with one save and a 3.83 ERA in 20 games (10 starts) as a sophomore.

2013

Spent most of the season with AAA Colorado Springs after signing a minor league contract…was 2-5 with 15 saves and a 3.05 ERA (15 ER, 44.1 IP) with 41 strikeouts in 44 relief appearances…selected to Major League roster June 16 and appeared in one game (June 19 at TOR)…designated for assignment on June 21 and outrighted to the minors on June 23…posted a 1.88 ERA (6 ER, 28.2 IP) in 27 games before the All-Star break and a 5.17 ERA (9 ER, 15.2 IP) in final 17 relief outings with Colorado Springs.
