Clinton Charles (Clint) Everts graduated from Cypress Falls (TX) High School where he was an All-American in 2002...Was a high school teammate of the Angels' Scott Kazmir...He and Kazmir became the first pair of pitchers from the same high school to be drafted in the first round of the same draft...Played in the 2004 Futures Game for the United States squad. 2009 Split the season between three levels of the Washington farm system as he continued his conversion to a full-time reliever...Started the year in the bullpen for Potomac (A) of the Carolina League... Allowed just two earned runs over 20.0 innings (0.90 ERA)...Moved to Harrisburg (AA) of the Eastern League on June 9th and made his debut that night with 2.0 shutout innings...Tied two season highs on July 20th vs. Bowie with 3.0 innings and four strikeouts...Went 20.0 innings, spanning 15 appearances, without allowing an earned run from July 10th-August 21st...Joined Syracuse (AAA) of the International League and threw 1.0 scoreless inning in his first appearance on August 12th...Won consecutive appearances on August 18th and August 21st against Buffalo. 2008 Converted to a relief role while splitting time between Hagerstown (A) of the South Atlantic League and Potomac (A) of the Carolina League...Struck out better than a batter per inning (85 strikeouts/81.0 innings) combined over both stops. 2004 Again named the top prospect in the Montreal organization...Underwent elbow ligament replacement surgery in September. 2003 Made his professional debut with Vermont (A) of the New York-Penn League after being selected fifth overall in the 2003 First Year Player Draft...Named the best prospect in the Expos system by Baseball America.
