Bay Area native comes to Giants camp as non-roster invitee after signing minor league free agent deal over winter...originally Oakland's 1st round pick (32nd overall) in 1997 First Year Player Draft, 8-year professional owns .276 lifetime avg. with 22 home runs, 214 RBI and 207 stolen bases in 626 minor league contests...has played in both Oakland (1997-99) and Anaheim (1999-2003) farm systems.

Graduated from Pinole Valley (CA) High School in nephew of Pointer Sisters singing group...father, John Haynes, was triple-jumper in 1980 Olympic trials...single. 2007 Broke into Majors after 10+ seasons in minors...Appeared in 40 games with Angels batting .267 (12/40) with one triple and one RBI...Made first Major League start, June 6 vs. Minnesota (RF)...Made ML debut as CF in 8th inning, May 28 vs. Seattle - collected first ML hit with single in 9th inn...Had contract purchased from Salt Lake May 28 and remained with Angels through end of season...Hit .386 (66/171) with 33 runs scored, nine doubles, six triples, four home runs, 32 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 44 games at Salt Lake...
