of Dowling (West Des Moines, IA) High School where he
was a first-team All-State shortstop... Also played football
and ran track (state qualifier in the high jump)... Received a
psychology degree from Creighton University in 1995,
where he was an All-Missouri Valley Conference selection in
baseball... While at Creighton, was converted from a shortstop
to catcher by manager Jim Hendry... Married with one

and St. Louis making three tours with the ML club. Appeared
in 26 games, starting 21 behind the plate... Recorded
his first STL hit on July 17 vs. HOU with a single off

Memphis on May 2 and appeared in one game before being
