Gerald Floyd Williams Bio Info

2005 In his second season with the Mets -- his contract was purchased from the Triple-A Norfolk affiliate on June 21 -- Williams again proved to be a useful contributor. Most of his contributions were modest -- late-inning defense, pinch-running and an occasional swing as these ratios suggest: 39 games and 30 at-bats, reaching base nine times and scoring nine runs. But he seldom embarrasses his manager or makes mistakes. At age 39, Williams may be in better physical condition than the great majority of players in the big leagues. He still runs well and plays the outfield well. 2004 Started 27 games during his two stints with the Mets. Williams had two hits in one inning on Aug. 27 versus the Dodgers. He also hit his fourth career pinch-hit homer on Aug. 19 against the Giants.
