Coaching Career Named to the Major League coaching staff on December 8, 2009 and is in his second season as Major League Hitting Coach...Jon was the Hitting Coach for the Kinston Indians in 2007 and 2008 and for the AAA Columbus Clippers in 2009...Retired as a player in 2006...In his first season with Kinston in 2007, the K-Tribe led the Carolina League in batting average and runs scored...In 2008, Beau Mills was named the Carolina League MVP under his watch...In 2009 at Columbus the Clippers led the International League in batting average (.275) as Jordan Brown (.336) won the IL Batting Title and Andy Marte led the league in OPS (.963) and slugging percentage (.593) as both were named Triple A All-Stars.

Played professionally for 15 seasons from 1992-2006 with seven different organizations (Cleveland, Kansas City, Cincinnati, Boston, New York-AL, St. Louis, Pittsburgh)...Spent parts of 6 seasons at the Major League level with Kansas City ('95-'97), Cincinnati ('97-'98), Boston ('99) and New York-AL ('00)...Career .246 (218-885) hitter at the big league level with 47 2B, 12 3B, 42HR & 125 RBI in 364 games...Was a Rule V pick by the KC Royals after the 1994 season following 3 seasons in the Indians organization to begin his pro career...Originally a third round selection by the Indians in the 1992 draft out of Miami Dade Community College after being named the Junior College Player-of-the-Year...Made his ML debut with the Royals in 1995 and became first ever Royal and 70th major leaguer at the time to homer in first Major League at-bat...Finest season in the Majors was in 1997 when he hit 13HR in just 65 games with the Reds.
