Coaching Career
Eiland will serve his first season as the Royals pitching coach in 2012...he was named to Ned Yost's staff on October 25, 2011 ... He spent the 2011 season in the Tampa Bay Rays organization as a special assistant to Executive VP of Baseball Operations Andrew Friedman ... Served as the New York Yankees Major League pitching coach for three seasons from 2008-2010, including on the 2009 World Series champion club ... Led the pitching staff to improvements in club ERA over each of his three seasons on the bench in New York... saw a drop from 4.49 in 2007 to 4.28 in his first season of 2008, then to 4.26 in the championship season and finally to 4.06 in his final season in 2010 ... His 2009 pitching staff recorded 1,260 strikeouts, the second-most ever by a Yankees staff...fell just six strikeouts shy of the club mark of 1,266 accomplished in 2001 ...
