Free-agent outfielder Jermaine Dye is reportedly open to making the switch to first base.
Dye has appeared in 1,694 games as an outfielder and in just one game as a first baseman throughout his 14-year career. However, this isn't the first time a possible switch to first has been mentioned, as the White Sox were considering moving Dye to the position before they re-signed Paul Konerko prior to the '06 campaign. According to FoxSports.com, Dye could be a right-handed hitting alternative at first base for the Braves, Mets, Giants and Orioles. Dye also is said to be looking at the Rangers and the Red Sox as possible new fits.
