Coaching Career

Castro enters his second year as the quality assurance coach...he will coach players pregame on the field and will be collecting data, evaluating and coaching from upstairs during games…Castro spent the 2014-15 seasons as the Dodgers' minor league infield coordinator…he joined the front office as assistant to the general manager immediately after retiring on July 10, 2011, and he served in the capacity until 2014.

Playing Career

Castro was originally signed by the Dodgers as an amateur free agent out of Mexico on June 18, 1991…he played 17 big league seasons with the Dodgers (1995-99, 2009, 2010, 2011), Reds (2000-04, 2006-08), Twins (2005-06), Orioles (2008) and Phillies (2010) and batted .229/.268/.327…the sure-handed infielder played shortstop primarily, but also spent time at second and third base.


Castro and his wife Yadira have four children - Juan Jr., Alex, Melissa and Daniel...Castro enjoys spending time with his family when he's not involved with baseball.
